Coherent source radius in pp̄ collisions

چکیده
We use a recently derived result to extract from two-pion interferometry data from pp̄ collisions the radius of the coherent component in the source. We find a coherent source radius of about 2fm. Two-particle Bose-Einstein interferometry (also known as Hanbury Brown-Twiss intensity interferometry) as a method for obtaining information on the space-time geometry and dynamics of high energy collisions has recently received intensive theoretical and experimental attention. Detailed investigations have shown that high-quality two-particle correlation data can reveal not only the geometric extension of the particle-emitting source but also its dynamical state at particle freeze-out [1–6]. For a partially coherent source, it was suggested that two-pion interferometry can give the coherent degree information of the source [7–9]. In paper [10], we have generalized the two-pion interferometry formula for a partially coherent source and found that twopion interferometry was also senstive to the size of the coherent source component. متن کاملComplementary studies on N ∗ from e + e − , pp and pp̄ collisions
Complementary to the conventional experimental studies on N∗ from πN and γN reactions, the ee, pp and pp̄ collisions can give novel insights into these N∗ resonances. While the ee collisions through production and decay of vector charmonium ψ provide a nice isospin filter for a simultaneously study of N∗, ∆∗, Λ∗, Σ∗ and Ξ∗, the pp collisions should be the best place for producing those ∆ with la...
متن کاملInclusive particle production in pp̄ Collisions
We calculate the inclusive production of charged hadrons in pp̄ collisions to next-to-leading order (NLO) in the QCD improved parton model using a new set of NLO fragmentation functions for charged pions and kaons. We predict transverse-momentum distributions and compare them with experimental data from the CERN Spp̄S Collider and the Fermilab Tevatron. DESY 95-020 TUM-T31-84/95

s = 200 GeV, and extrapolating the overall normalization from pp̄ collisions at the SPS and Tevatron, we find that the expected rapidity densities are almost grand-canonical. Therefore, at LHC the ratios between different species become essentially energy-independent, provided that the hadronization temperature TH and the strangeness suppression factor γS retain the stable values observed in the...
متن کاملCoherent Photon-pomeron and Photon-photon Interactions in Ultra-peripheral Collisions at Rhic
Ultra-peripheral heavy ion collisions involve long range electromagnetic interactions at impact parameters larger than twice the nuclear radius, where no nucleonnucleon collisions occur. The first observation of coherent ρ production with and without accompanying nuclear breakup, AuAu→AuAuρ and AuAu→ AuAuρ respectively, and the observation of ee pair production AuAu→AuAuee are presented by the ...
